Sarah Khan-Bashir MBE - Partner - General Civil Litigation & family law
Sarah Khan-Bashir MBE – A solicitor, highly committed to putting something back into the community. Sarah established Shire Solicitors in 2007. The practice specialises in Family Law and offers advice and representation in Immigration, Personal Injury and Wills and Probate.
After qualifying as a solicitor, Sarah joined the Office of the Force Solicitor for West Yorkshire Police. One of the many initiatives she was involved with was the creation of a protocol to be followed by the courts and partner authorities in order to case manage civil applications brought by the police to the magistrates’ courts. This model was adopted by several police forces. Sarah has also trained officers from the NCIS in cultural awareness programs and provided specific training in relation to the Muslim communities in West Yorkshire.
Sarah is currently the Chair of Mosaic Yorkshire and also sits on its National Advisory Board. Mosaic is a Princes' Trust Charity which delivers mentoring programs within schools and prisons in order to raise aspirations and enhance the employability of young people. She is also a founding trustee on the board of the Bradford Police Museum which endeavours to highlight the history of the Bradford Police Service.
Sarah is married with three daughters and lives in Bradford West Yorkshire. She was awarded the Eleanor Roosevelt Award by Brunel University for her services to Law and in 2014 received an MBE from the Queen for services to charity.
As a lawyer, Sarah's passion is and always has been to assist those who need help the most. Her work within the Bradford community has highlighted the need for more awareness around the registration of religious marriages in order to protect the legal rights of vulnerable women who may not be aware that their religious marriages are not recognised by English law.
Sarah is also a firm advocate for protecting the interests of clients and has written article about the subject of preparing a Will in order to protect assets from being passed on against the wishes of clients.
Javaid Iqbal - Family Law SENIOR Caseworker (Consultant)
Javaid has vast experience in practicing all areas of Family Law, including Divorce, Ancillary Relief (Financial settlements), Children Act matters and Non Molestation orders. Javaid understands the client's situation instantly and presents the best options to achieve the result the client desires. He is practical in his outlook and understands that there can be more than one way to resolve any situation; this is particularly true and crucial where children are involved. Javaid has a client base that covers the UK and overseas including Spain, Morocco, Dubai and Kuwait.
Javaid is a keen advocate and does his own advocacy where possible thus providing much needed continuity for his clients.
He also assists in private children matters involving all aspects of Child Arrangements Orders, Emergency Orders and Application for leave to remove children permanently from the UK.
Javaid believes in getting to know his clients as he believes this leads to a greater understanding and trust between them. This one to one relationship is the reason Javaid has continued success in getting the best solution for his clients.

Sidraa's calm approach reassures the clients and whilst working with a trusted local Imam has streamlined the Islamic Divorce process into one that removes the need for prolonged involvement of the Shariah Councils and ensure that the client is updated and aware of the procedure each step of the way.
ANEKA SHOUKAT - Trainee solicitor
Aneka joined Shire Solicitors in May 2016. She graduated with First Class Honours in Law and graduated with a distinction in the Legal Practice Course. During her studies Aneka was presented with an award for highest academic achiever in Immigration Law as well an award for the highest achiever in Legal & Business Skills Mooting.
Aneka has gained experience in all aspects of law but specialises in Personal Injury, Immigration law and Wills and Probate. Her hard work, dedication and communication skills have always drawn praise from her clients who are satisfied that they have received the best possible service.
A passionate and dedicated individual Aneka's tenacity ensures she gets the best results for her clients. Ensuring her clients are fully informed at each stage of the case is very important to Aneka and will regularly provide updates for them. Aneka has regularly written and had published many legal articles on the subject of Personal Injury and Occupier's Liability, areas which she holds particular expertise in.
